Leverage your past.

Invest in your future.

We call it Compound Coaching. A good coaching call fades by Friday. This work compounds — we dig for the root of your patterns and build on everything we uncover.

Why do the same patterns keep winning?

Maybe you’ve named the loop, read the book, done the therapy, tried the framework somebody swore by. Or maybe you just know something’s off and can’t say what. Either way, here you are, running the same play again.

I spent years white-knuckling my own stuff before I learned willpower was never the issue. You’ve been treating symptoms while the root stays buried.

There’s a question underneath all of it, one that’s been quietly running your decisions, your relationships, and your fears since childhood. Once you name it, your reactions (what we call “the scramble”) finally make sense. That’s where we start.

Successful but stuck

Everything looks right from the outside. You’ve checked the boxes, hit the milestones. But something still feels off, and you can’t quite name it.

Caught in the loop

Perfectionism. People-pleasing. Overwork. Avoidance. You’ve named it. You’ve fought it. And you’re still doing it. It just means you haven’t found the root yet.

Breakthroughs that don’t stick

You’ve had real insights before: in therapy, in a book, in one great conversation. Three weeks later you couldn’t find them. The insight wasn’t the problem. You never had a place to keep it.

Done with surface-level answers

You don’t need another checklist or a pep talk. You need someone willing to ask the question most people avoid, and sit with you in the honest answer.

Go deep. Get honest. Build.

Surface-level fixes don’t hold. We go after the question that’s been running the show underneath — the one most people never think to ask — then build from it.

Go Deep

Every person carries a core question from childhood, one that quietly drives your decisions, your relationships, your fears. We find yours. That’s where everything starts to make sense.

Get Honest

I won’t just nod along. The most loving thing anyone ever did for me was tell me the truth I didn’t want to hear. I plan to return the favor.

Build From It

Insight without action is just entertainment. Every session ends with a commitment you choose. Everything we uncover gets captured, so the next session starts further along than the last.

Built on the Primal Question framework by Mike Foster — wrapped in a system designed so nothing you learn gets lost.

Who this is for

This work fits if any of these are true:

  • You hold it together for everyone else, and nobody holds it together for you.

  • Under stress you reach for the same move: people-pleasing, overwork, perfectionism, avoidance.

  • Nothing’s exactly wrong. But you know there’s more, and you’re done pretending you don’t.

No rock bottom required, just honesty about the gap between who you are and who you want to be.

Divorce, ministry burnout, a parenting season that changed the rules…

How It Works

You’re not buying sessions. You’re building something you keep.

Every session produces structured notes and a full transcript, compounding into a living record of who you are, what’s been driving you, and how far you’ve come. When our work ends, all of it goes with you.

1

Discovery Call

Free, 30 minutes. You talk, I listen, and we figure out whether this work fits what you’re carrying.

2

The Work

Regular sessions, every two to three weeks. We find your root question, name both ends of the stick — the wound it left and the gift it gave you — and build, with real accountability and a commitment you choose every time.

3

It Compounds

Nothing resets. Each session starts where the last one left off and goes deeper. When you understand what’s actually driving you, you stop reacting and start choosing.

Justin Sternberg

Certified Primal Question Coach. But the certification came after the work, not before it.

Certified Primal Question Coach I’ve spent 20+ years in recovery, serving in Celebrate Recovery leadership since 2007. I know what it’s like to be the guy who’s convinced the problem is always on the other side of the fence. I’ve sat in Friday night circles and watched people at rock bottom find their footing. I’ve done the hard inventory myself: named the approval addiction, connected both ends of my own stick, and learned what “struggling well” actually means.

I’ve also spent my career as a web programmer and AI architect, building systems that keep complex things from getting lost. Compound Coaching is what happened when that habit met this work: a coaching practice where nothing you learn slips away.

I’m faith-grounded, action-biased, and honest. I won’t tell you what you want to hear. I’ll help you see what’s actually there. Then we build from it.

Justin Sternberg

Don't take my word for it.

Justin's approach to coaching can be defined in one phrase: ‘No more rearview mirror living.’ His Christ-centered approach helped me accept and heal from my past hurts, mistakes and struggles… He is a true brother in Christ.

I met Justin at a point in my life where I was at my rock bottom. For over a year, Justin met with me every Thursday at 6am — those meetings literally changed my life. He listened to me, encouraged me, challenged me, cried with me and genuinely connected with my heart in a manner that nobody else ever had.

What sets his coaching apart is his unique ability to balance genuine compassion with thoughtful accountability. He creates a safe and respectful environment where I feel truly heard, understood, and valued, while also being challenged to grow… Justin has helped me recognize patterns, explore difficult questions, and develop healthier perspectives and boundaries.

The personalized resource he developed (compound coaching) became a rich, practical, and lasting tool that continues to bring clarity and direction long after our sessions ended. As a Primal Question Coach myself, I have experienced firsthand the depth of his work and the integrity of his character.

From Mike Foster, who developed the Primal Question methodology:

“Miserable people overthink and underact.”

“Your nervous system will always choose a familiar hell rather than an unfamiliar heaven.”

It starts with a free 30-minute conversation, enough time to talk about what’s going on and see whether this work fits.
